Welcome back

Thank you to all of our lovely customers who have sent goodwill emails and kind messages of support to us during this terrible period of uncertainty and adjustment.

Your comments are very much appreciated by us all.

Here at HBL the health and safety of our guests and our wonderful team is the number one priority.

We really can’t wait to reopen and be able to welcome guests and friends back to the site to enjoy the great outdoors, a well earned break, or just a change of scenery; but we have to ensure that we are able to provide an environment where all guests feel comfortable and safe while staying with us on site, and that all of our wonderful staff are trained, supported, protected, and remain safe in their work at this unprecedented time.

To rush this process would be irresponsible, and we will never do that.

Inevitably, many changes will need to be made our old ''normal'' way of operation and we thank you in advance for your support and understanding at this strange time.

Following the COVID-19 closure in March of this year, a complete appraisal and updating of our policies, procedures and operating systems has been completed. This also included a full COVID-19 risk assessment, undertaken by our retained health and safety practitioner and we believe we are now well prepared to phase our opening in a Covid Secure way.

We have had to draw up additional Terms & Conditions which will remain in place until we notify all guests otherwise by email, social media and on our website.

These additional T&Cs are in addition to our standard T&Cs.

By booking and entering the site you are bound by these necessary Terms and Conditions changes.

All of the T&Cs will be attached to all bookings and pre arrival emails.

Following the first easing of the lock-down restrictions, the two large fishing lakes were opened soon after on 15th May 2020.

A new operating system was implemented to make sure that a Covid Secure experience could be enjoyed by anglers on both Jordan's and Vincent's lakes.

A new online booking portal was speedily designed and constructed. This new system has proved both successful and very popular with our anglers, especially in the fact that individual swims can now be reserved at the time of booking. No more queuing or rushing in the morning is needed! All anglers must now book and pay online to fish.

As long as there is still availability, bookings can be made up to 23.59 hrs. the day before anyone wishes to fish.

Once the site is open fully, be it later this year or early next year, the successful new online booking system will stay in place. We will no longer sell day tickets for the two large lakes on site or in the shop.

At present the two small canal lakes, the campsite, shop, lodges, cabins and pods all remain closed.

Presently (20/06/2020) there is no night fishing permitted at HBL and non fishing visitors are not able to enter our site. When this situation changes we will update our policy accordingly and publish it on our website, social media and by email.

Henlow Bridge Lakes will introduce a phased system for the re-opening of our campsite. This will ensure that the site remains Covid Secure at all times. As with any system of changes, full cooperation from all of our guests and staff will be necessary to allow us to remain open, the site to operate efficiently and most importantly keep everyone safe.

guidelines may dictate this date is pushed back

Unfortunately, all our campsite communal areas including all of the amenity blocks (toilets-showers-plate wash-laundry Etc.) will remain CLOSED in the first phase of opening.

This is necessary so we can ensure social distancing measures can be adhered to.

As a result of no communal facilities being open. I.E toilets, showers, plate wash Etc. It will NOT be possible for tents, trailer tents or any other form of unit that is not fully self contained to stay with us in phase one of our re-opening, this includes our Pods. Toilet and shower tents cannot be erected and used on our site.

All guests will have to adhere to our social distancing guidelines whilst on our site, and very importantly not visit other pitches or socialise with other guests other than those registered and staying on the same pitch as them.

Accordingly, group bookings will NOT be allowed to stay with us in the first or second phase of re-opening. Until further notice, NO visitors will be allowed to enter the site.

Obviously, we are disappointed at having to cancel all GROUP bookings this season. Additionally, all units that CANNOT be fully self contained will also have to be cancelled (for arrivals up to and including Wed 5th August 2020) but to ensure the site is operationally Covid Secure, sadly we are left with no other option at this time.

If this action sadly affects your planned stay with us and we have not already contacted you, then please contact us by email and we will be more than happy to move your booking to another date, and also inform you of your other options: info@henlowbridgelakes.co.uk.

In phase one of opening, all caravans, motorhomes and other units MUST be fully self contained. No exceptions will be made. All guests must use the Elsan and grey water dumping points in a safe and courteous way, following all of the signage displayed.

All of our pitches are large and spacious and we will be assisting with positioning units correctly on individual pitches. We will be reducing the number of pitches available and also closing off some pitches. This may mean that on arrival, you will be allocated a different pitch to the one you originally booked. Unfortunately at this time no specific pitch can be guaranteed, but we will do as much as possible to meet individual requests.

We would also ask that vehicle movements, including those entering and leaving the site are kept to a minimum at this time.

We will be re-opening the self contained lodges and cabins for guests in phase one of opening. The pods will unfortunately remain closed at this time. Again social distancing guidelines must be observed.

Cooperation and personal responsibility will be key to our successful and safe re-opening. If we sadly encounter guests being irresponsible and not following the necessary changes to our rules, we will have no choice but to ask them to leave the site immediately.

All Pitch bookings must arrive between the hours of 13.00 – 18.00.

All Pod bookings must arrive between the hours of 14.00 - 18.00. From 6th August 2020.

All Cabin and Lodge bookings must arrive between the hours of 15.00 – 18.00 We cannot accept any arrivals after 18.00.

New detailed arrival procedures will be emailed to all guests who have bookings.

The reception building at Hayward's is now closed and will remain permanently closed. All queries, information and bookings will now all be managed from the shop.

Our online booking portal is now open on this link for all self contained Caravans and Motorhomes to make online single bookings for arrivals on or after 9th July 2020.

Lodges and Cabins can also be booked now,

Tents, our Pods and other non self contained units will be available to make single family online bookings from Friday 10th July 2020 for arrivals on or after 6th August 2020.

Availability will be limited, and when a certain day or weekend becomes full, the system will show this.

Online bookings only

Only one unit and one pitch can be booked at any one time.

NO group bookings will be accepted this season.

Please do not email us to request a booking.

Our office remains closed until Thursday 9th July 2020.

The shop will open daily from 9th July 2020 from 08.30 - 1600.

Due to the narrow spaces we will be introducing a ''one family in - one family out'' system until further notice.

There will be one door for entry and one to exit.

The contactless card payment limit has been raised to £45 and we would ask you to use this form of payment as much as possible, which will reduce the circulating of cash.

We do realise it can be difficult with children in shops at times, but please keep the handling of goods in the shop to a minimum.

Screens have been fitted at the tills, and we ask that you please maintain social distancing measures at all times to keep yourself, other guests and our team safe.

Vincent's and Jordan's lakes must now be booked online.

Day tickets cannot be purchased in the shop any more for these lakes. If, when staying with us you think you would like to fish on one of these two lakes, you would need to book online beforehand.

Bookings cannot be made online for the same day. You would need to be sure to have secured your swim before arriving. The booking system allows bookings to be made up to 30 days ahead.

Please click here to book fishing

At this time, day tickets for both the Youngers and Rodgers lakes can be purchased in the shop from 09.00 every day.

At the earliest from Thursday 6th August 2020

We will update our website/social media and by email if this date is moved either way.

In phase two, the WC's only sections in the Ash and Maple blocks will be open. All signage instructions must be observed when using WC's.

Children must be accompanied at all times.

The showers and all other communal areas will remain closed. Unfortunately at this stage, we will still NOT be able to accept any group bookings.

All guests must adhere to all of our displayed social distancing guidelines whilst on our site and very importantly guests cannot visit other pitches or socialise with other guests other than those registered and staying on the same pitch as them.

Guests that have tents/trailer tents, our Pods and other non self contained units booked will now be welcome on site in the PHASE TWO period of opening, but as previously stated there will be NO showers or communal spaces open.

Cooperation and personal responsibility will be key to our successful and safe re-opening. If we sadly encounter guests being irresponsible and not following the necessary changes to our rules, we will have no choice but to ask them to leave the site immediately.

VISITORS ON SITE. No visitors will be accepted on site until 10th September 2020 at the earliest.

TAKEAWAY DELIVERIES. Please ensure you are at the main gate in plenty of time to meet your delivery driver.

TELEPHONES. The telephones will be manned from Thursday 9th July 2020. Our telephone lines will be open from 09.00-16.00 every day.

It will not possible to leave any voice messages.

To message us please email: info@henlowbridgelakes.co.uk

CARAVAN STORAGE. To access your unit in the caravan storage facility, please email us with details of your plans: info@henlowbridgelakes.co.uk.

At this stage, we think that it is unlikely that any of our communal facilities, including showers, will be opened for the 2020 summer season at HBL, and regrettably, this means we will not be able to welcome any group bookings this summer. We will of course continually monitor this situation and make updates via social media, our website and email should this situation change.

Thank you for taking the time to read this extensive document.

We do understand that some other businesses may well be opening and operating in different ways, but we have taken a view that we need to ensure our guests and team have an environment that can operate safely, and we believe we have found a workable compromise.

We sincerely apologise to all guests who have unfortunately been affected by the necessary changes we have had to make.

1. Caravans, motorhomes and all other self contained units including Lodges and Cabins can now book online here for all arrivals on or after 9th July 2020.

2. 09/07/20 site will open to welcome caravans, motorhomes and all other self contained units, including Lodges and Cabins.

3. 10/07/20 tents, Pods and all other non self contained units can book online for arrivals on or after 6th August 2020.

Unfortunately NO group bookings will be accepted at this time and all communal facilities including showers will remain closed, with the exception of the toilet section in Maple and Ash fields.

Social distancing guidelines must still be followed.

5. 24/08/20 It is hoped we will be in a position to be able to layout the plans for the remainder of the 2020 season, including Halloween.

We believe it is important at this time to offer as much detail as possible on the phased re-opening of the site. We have tried to cover all scenarios that individual guests may need clarity on, but if you have any questions or need further clarification on any point please email us after Thursday 9th July 2020 and we will be delighted to assist you: info@henlowbridgelakes.co.uk

As recent events have proved, advice, fine detail and safety recommendations concerning different situations and settings can change very fast.

Moving forward we will continue to monitor our policies and update everyone as and when they change.

We will always base our operating system on safety.

Once again thank you for your continued support at Henlow Bridge Lakes.

Please keep safe.

Chris Rushton and all of the team at HBL.
