River Hiz
The River Hiz rises at Wellhead Spring at Charlton and runs through Hitchin, Arlesey and joins the River Ivel at Henlow Grange.
1067 metres of the river bank abuts Vincent’s and Jordan’s Lakes.
Over the last few years this river section has been cleared and fishing platforms introduced in some areas.
During the works an old weir was found adjacent to the south east corner of Vincent’s Lake and part of it rebuilt to form a fishing platform area and disabled swim.
Although not heavily fished, the river has seen barbel, roach, chub, perch and pike. Since opening several fish have been taken, including an 11lb.15oz pike, several 2½lb perch and 20 plus roach catches.
